He explained that despite the lawsuit over XRP, Ripple had the \u201cstrongest year ever.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filed a lawsuit against him, Ripple Labs, and co-founder Chris Larsen a year ago. The securities watchdog alleged that XRP should have been registered as a security.<\/p>\n<p>While insisting that the SEC\u2019s lawsuit against XRP \u201cis an attack on crypto in the US, not just Ripple,\u201d Garlinghouse detailed:<\/p>\n<p>2021 has been a watershed year for crypto. Acceptance and awareness of the opportunity to bring billions of people into the global financial community has never been so clear. It\u2019s been incredible to see a lot less \u2018maximalism\u2019, and many more builders joining the industry.<\/p>\n<p>The CEO proceeded to outline Ripple\u2019s progress over the year, such as launching new On-Demand Liquidity (ODL) corridors and its central bank digital currency (CBDC) solution. \u201cAll of this growth came from outside the US,\u201d he opined.<\/p>\n<p>Garlinghouse then noted that SEC Chairman Gary Gensler \u201chas taken an aggressively anti-crypto approach and companies are already moving outside the US.\u201d He asserted that \u201cthe SEC today won\u2019t answer questions about the legal status of ETH, much less anything else,\u201d elaborating:<\/p>\n<p>Calling crypto the \u2018Wild West\u2019 is a farce \u2013 most are complying with financial regulators globally.
