So Justin Trudeau said, \u2018I don\u2019t like me some truckers. So we\u2019re going to seize your assets. So then the court went to try to seize the crypto that was being given to the truckers.\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He then read the now-famous email response from the Nunchuk wallet firm to the Canadian government, in which they said that it is impossible to freeze accounts since \u201cthat is how decentralization works.\u201d<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">The Ontario Superior Court of Justice asked self-custody wallet provider @nunchuk_io to disclose user information and freeze user\u2019s bitcoin.<\/p>\n<p>This was the team\u2019s response. pic.twitter.com\/uyW9OWs1LS<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Pomp \ud83c\udf2a (@APompliano) February 19, 2022<\/p>\n<p>Ted Cruz continued to quote the email response:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe do not collect any user identification information beyond email addresses. We also do not hold any keys. Therefore, we cannot freeze our users accounts.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Nunchuk email response to the Ontario Superior Court in full<\/p>\n<p>Ted Cruz then highlighted one of the most critical parts of the letter:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe cannot prevent them from being moved. We do not have the knowledge of, quote, the existence, nature, value and location of our users assets. This is by design.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The email response closed off with the following lines:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPlease look up how self custody and private keys work.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen the Canadian dollar loses its value, we will be here to serve you as well.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Cruz highlights the importance of decentralization and blockchain technology.
