And he includes himself in that assessment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI can feel myself being a dick to other people [on Twitter]. Like, I criticize it and then realize I\u2019m a hypocrite for doing it myself,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n<p>He\u2019s more of a fan of podcasting, though, and his insightful interviews with A-list guests, such as MicroStrategy\u2019s Michael Saylor, ARK Invest\u2019s Cathie Wood and analyst Lyn Alden, have seen him amass 1 million listeners a month.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Also read: \u2018The wealthiest time of my life was the most miserable\u2019: Peter McCormack<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>McCormack fell into podcasting by \u201cpure accident\u201d after spending two decades in digital marketing, as well as a stint running his own agency. He got the itch for it while listening to health guru Rich Roll\u2019s podcast and decided he \u201cwanted to have\u201d the same job.<\/p>\n<p>McCormack slid into Roll\u2019s DMs and managed to score some free coaching out of it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI went to an event of his, and he said to stay in touch if you\u2019re ever in LA. So, I was in LA, [and messaged him], \u2018Well hi, I am here. How do I do this podcast thing?\u2019 And he mentored me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>McCormack\u2019s hustling paid off in spades with <em>What Bitcoin Did <\/em>growing to become one of the best-known Bitcoin podcasts in the entire industry. The enormous success he\u2019s enjoyed brought on \u201call kinds of pressure,\u201d as he\u2019s now an employer responsible for a small business.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are now seven people that work on this podcast \u2014 I don\u2019t want to fuck this up. That\u2019s seven salaries that are relying on this,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n<p>McCormack is fast becoming responsible for parts of his humble hometown of Bedford.<\/p>\n<p>With a population just shy of 200,000, this small U.K. town has made its mark on the global Bitcoin map, all because McCormack decided to buy the local football club in 2021.<\/p>\n<p>McCormack renamed the club to \u201cReal Bedford FC,\u201d and fans can pay for merchandise, tickets and drinks with Bitcoin. But that\u2019s not how he sees it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think it is more that I want my town to do well, and I want the people of my town to do well. I\u2019ve traveled the world doing this podcast, and now I want to build businesses in my hometown and support my hometown.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-what-led-to-twitter-fame\">What led to Twitter fame?<\/h2>\n<p>McCormack doesn\u2019t believe there is \u201cany secret\u201d to building a following on Twitter, other than just working your \u201cbollocks off.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI just worked very hard over the last six years and was as open-minded as I can in regards to Bitcoin and politics,\u201d he says. This paid off in 2021 when he was invited to meet with El Salvador\u2019s president, Nayib Bukele, to discuss Bitcoin.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">I was honoured to be invited to the El Salvadorian Presidential Palace to meet with President @nayibbukele.<\/p>\n<p>We discussed #bitcoin, volcano mining and the opportunity for the people of this great country.<\/p>\n<p>This project is the real deal. pic.twitter.com\/WJYWhm0o6O<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Peter McCormack\ud83c\udff4\u200d\u2620\ufe0f (@PeterMcCormack) June 15, 2021<\/p>\n<p>So, on balance, he can see that Twitter has both good and bad elements.\u00a0\u201cIt\u2019s good for promoting the football club and things I\u2019m working on \u2014 it\u2019s also a pain in the arse as well,\u201d he says. <\/p>\n<h2>What type of content can you expect?<\/h2>\n<p>McCormack explains that his Twitter content is mainly \u201cBitcoin and football\u201d and makes it clear that he\u2019s not everyone\u2019s cup of tea.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you\u2019re into Bitcoin and you like football, it totally works. The whole thing works. But if you don\u2019t like football, I think the football is actually a net negative to what I\u2019m doing.
